The “No Wake Zone” just north of CB’s Saltwater Outfitters is a great snapper spot, especially on the outgoing tide. Grab some shrimp at CB’s, and then anchor up on the edge of the channel.

While running in shallow water areas, be on the lookout for fish jumping in your wake. Pompano are set to appear this month and should be abundant considering the huge amount of inshore bait available.

Out on the deep water springs, expect to encounter amberjack and even an occasional African Pompano.

While the majority of our local captains are on the hunt for tarpon, the pristine backcountry waters in our area are left alone to the fish. Translation, no pressure equals world-class inshore fishing for BIG snook and redfish.

If tarpon are not your game, head to the edges of the flats and move up with the tide or work the tide out as it falls on the outgoing. The wonderful thing about spring is snook, redfish and spotted sea trout gather on the flats and feed on bait schools.
